Job Description
We Are Looking For a Motivated, Compassionate And Enthusiastic Band 5 Nurse Or Practitioner To Join The Outpatient Assessment Centre And Minor Procedure Suite At University Hospitals Dorset (St Mary’s Site). This Is a Unique Opportunity To Work Within a Multidisciplinary Team Providing Care Across a Wide Range Of Specialties, Including
- Urology
- Trauma \& Orthopaedics
- Dermatology
- Oral \& Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS)
- And other surgical/medical specialties
This role would suit someone with experience in a theatre setting or within any of the specialties listed. The service is focused on developing new ways to deliver diagnostic care and treatment, so enthusiasm for innovation and service development is essential.
We are looking for a compassionate and proactive individual who demonstrates strong teamwork skills and a commitment to continuous improvement. You will play an important role in supporting a positive team culture and ensuring the service runs safely and efficiently.
Please note that while this post is currently based at St Mary’s site, the service is expected to relocate within the next couple of years. As part of the role, the successful candidate may also be required to work across any University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) sites in line with service needs.

Clinical Care Delivery
- Provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing minor procedures across multiple specialties.
- Prepare patients, equipment, and procedure areas in line with infection prevention and control policies.
- Assist in minor surgical and diagnostic procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout.
- Monitor patients during and after procedures, recognising and responding to changes in condition.
- Provide discharge information and advice in accordance with Trust policies and individual care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments in line with Trust protocols and NMC guidelines.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of nursing assessments, care provided, and post-procedure outcomes.
- Assist in setting up and smooth running of clinics and support Health care support workers.
