Radiation Control Technician 3

What You'll Do
- Provide radiological and operational health physics support across LANL facilities and high-hazard areas
- Conduct workplace surveillance, interpret radiological data, and ensure compliance with 10CFR835 and radiation protection procedures
- Review and support radiation work permits, posting compliance, and facility design input
- Mentor and guide junior technicians in contamination control, exposure management, and procedural compliance
- Respond to radiological emergencies and coordinate re-entry strategies with health physicists
- Supervise other technicians during field assignments as needed
Schedule \& Compensation
- Pay Rate: $37-$43/hr depending on experience
- Shift Differential: Additional pay available for qualifying shift assignments
- Schedule: This position supports 24/7 facility coverage and may include rotating shifts and weekend assignments
What We're Looking For
Required
- U.S. Citizenship (required for DOE Q Clearance eligibility)
- Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance and meet DOE Order 426\.2 requirements
- High school diploma plus 2-4 years of hands-on RCT experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in radiological monitoring, emergency response, and work permit review
- Ability to work with limited supervision and make sound radiological safety decisions in the field
Preferred
- Experience at a DOE national laboratory or other DOE/NNSA facility
- Military health physics or radiation control background
- Experience training or mentoring other RCTs
- Broad knowledge of health physics principles and related disciplines
