Role Description

The Junior Buyer is a full-time, on-site role based in Delaware, OH, responsible for supporting purchasing activities for materials, components, and services. Day-to-day tasks include issuing purchase orders, maintaining accurate supplier and material data, and monitoring delivery schedules to ensure on-time supply to manufacturing. The role will assist with sourcing new suppliers, obtaining and comparing quotes, and supporting cost-saving initiatives under the guidance of senior purchasing team members. The Junior Buyer will help resolve purchase discrepancies, coordinate with internal departments such as production, quality, and logistics, and maintain purchasing records and reports. This role also involves basic inventory monitoring, supporting supplier performance reviews, and adhering to company policies, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of purchasing or supply chain processes, including issuing purchase orders, basic sourcing, and vendor communication.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to track data, prioritize tasks, and follow through on commitments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook) and the ability to learn ERP or MRP systems used for purchasing and inventory management.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, data entry, and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment and collaborate closely with production, logistics, and quality teams.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience; prior purchasing or internship experience in manufacturing or automotive is a plus.
  • 0–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (manufacturing preferred)
  • Exposure to automotive manufacturing (Tier 1 / Tier 2)
  • Understanding of JIT/JIS supply requirements
  • Familiarity with APQP, BOM, and engineering changes
  • Experience interacting with suppliers and managing RFQs
