Job Description

About Pepper

Pepper is a content-led growth engine for the AI age, uniting strategy, technology, and creative talent in one platform to drive predictable organic growth across search and AI discovery surfaces. The Pepper platform keeps brands visible, trusted, and cited across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

The Role

The Pepper platform has grown across UX, visual, and systems, and that surface area now warrants another strong designer to push the craft alongside our existing one. We're hiring a

Senior Product Designer to own real product surfaces end-to-end and ship them.

This is a high-ownership IC role with room to grow. It needs both halves of the craft in one person: sharp product thinking and high visual polish.

What You'll Do

  • Own core product surfaces end-to-end. Frame the problem, reason from user and business goals, design the flows, and carry the craft to a pixel-tight, shipped result.
  • Turn rough problems into working, testable prototypes using AI-native tools (Claude Code, Figma Make, or similar), so real interactions get in front of people instead of static mocks.
  • Work within and extend our design system, holding quality and consistency as we scale.
  • Own design QA of your work. Once engineering builds it, review against intent, catch the gaps, and drive it to a correct, polished state in production. You care whether it's right on screen, not just right in Figma.
  • Stay close to your work after it ships. Watch how people actually use your flows and push improvements without being asked. Shipped is the start, not the finish.
  • Work daily with our lead designer, product managers, and engineers, iterating in fast review cycles and shipping together.

What We're Looking For

  • 5\+ years in product design with real end-to-end ownership on B2B SaaS, ideally data-dense or workflow-heavy products.
  • Product thinking and visual craft as one bar. You reason from user problems and product goals and can defend why, not just what. Clean typography and hierarchy are table stakes; we mean the polish, restraint, and detail that make a product feel considered and premium. A beautiful screen with no thinking behind it doesn't clear the bar, and neither does the reverse.
  • Strong design systems experience. You've built or meaningfully extended a system (tokens, components, accessibility), not just consumed one, and you know how it holds quality together at scale.
  • Figma mastery: deep fluency with components, variants, and auto-layout. You build files others can actually use.
  • Fluent with AI build tools. You're well past the basics with at least one AI prototyping tool (Claude Code, Figma Make), fast enough to turn a rough problem into a clickable prototype in days. Bonus if you've used Claude Code or similar to push real HTML/CSS and tokens into the codebase, even at a beginner level. You can grow into that here.
  • Confident, not precious. You make a strong case for your decisions and genuinely listen, filtering signal from noise and changing your mind when someone's right, without needing to win every disagreement.

Nice to Have

A few bonuses. None are dealbreakers, so don't let them stop you from applying.

  • Agentic experience (AX) design: you've designed for AI agents, not just AI features, with a point of view on intent capture, making agent actions visible, control surfaces, and trust calibration. Adjacent work on copilots, conversational UI, or generative interfaces counts too.
  • A working understanding of SEO and AEO/GEO (how content earns visibility across search engines and AI answer surfaces).
  • Spot illustration: the small contextual illustrations in empty states, onboarding, and error states.
  • Familiarity with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui.

What We'd Love to See

Send a portfolio of shipped work, not just process decks. We care as much about the messy upstream - how you clarified a vague problem, the calls you made, what you cut - as the final pixels. Show us the thinking and the craft.
