Description
The Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, including employee relations, payroll processing, recruitment, compensation, compliance, benefits administration, policy and procedure development, and performance management. This position ensures that the school attracts, develops, and retains high-quality faculty and staff who are committed to the school’s mission, while fostering a supportive, collaborative workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages the hiring and recruiting process, including posting jobs and onboarding new employees.
- Handles all benefits administration, including plan design, communicating benefits information to employees, and serving as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR related matters.
- Manages all areas of compliance as they relate to HR. This includes but is not limited to ADA, COBRA, FMLA, FLSA, HIPAA, ERISA, and EEO compliance. Complete, track, and file all compliance documentation accordingly.
- Works with the CFO to prepare and maintain all salary planning worksheets, manages the employment
offer
process and timeline, and prepares employment offer letters.
- Meets and consults with supervisors and /or employees on matters related to employee management.
- Manages payroll process. Handles all payroll questions and processes applicable payroll reports, including the annual W-2 process.
- Updates the employee and student handbook annually, ensuring compliance with internal policies and with any legal/regulatory changes. Coordinates the review of these changes with the Strategic and Tactical teams.
- Coordinates and/or conducts exit interviews to understand reasons behind separation, terminates benefits, and coordinates COBRA benefits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration with an HR concentration, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of HR, including employment law, compensation and benefits, strategic HR, employee relations, recruitment and staffing, and training and development.
- Five years of progressively more complex human resource management experience.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with the CFO and other senior leaders.
- Proficiency with human resources software (SegueHR/Kronos preferred), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High degree of integrity, confidentiality, and alignment with the school’s mission and values.
Physical Demands:
While performing the above duties, you will be expected to:
- Sit, stand, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear, and interact with faculty, staff, and others in person and on the telephone.
- Work in a stressful environment, dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
- Traverse school facilities, including climbing stairs.
- Lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
- Work at a desk and computer for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
