Job Description
Senior / Principal Product Manager - Relocate to New Zealand \| Full Visa Sponsorship and Relocation Provided
Are you a technically strong product manager who has ever thought about making a move to New Zealand?
This is a rare one. I'm working
exclusively
with one of New Zealand's most exciting tech companies on four inaugural senior PM roles - and they're actively looking for candidates from Australia and internationally who are open to relocating.
Full relocation costs covered. Visa sponsorship handled end to end. This is not a maybe - they do this regularly and are fully set up for it.
The company
Backed by some of the most recognised names in global venture capital, with co-founders of several of the world's best known tech companies personally invested. They are solving one of the most stubborn data problems in a massive global industry - a market where trillions of dollars change hands every year, but the technology underpinning it has not meaningfully changed in decades.
Think of it like this. Every time a payment processes anywhere in the world, something invisible makes it happen in milliseconds. This company is building the equivalent of that for a massive physical industry that currently does it all by phone call and spreadsheet. When they are done, the whole supply chain just works.
They have tripled their team in the last 12 months and are backed to double again. These four roles are the first dedicated PM hires they have ever made - founding team positions with full end-to-end product ownership from day one.
The roles
Four Principal and Staff level positions, each owning a distinct product domain.
One role owns the company's core AI model - a proprietary domain-specific system where you are accountable for model accuracy, the human in the loop feedback loop, and the user experience built on top of it. This is genuine AI product ownership, not managing a team that builds AI.
One role owns the end-user experience - workflow automation for time-pressured operators, progressive AI-assisted automation, mobile product, and third-party integrations.
One role owns the supply-side network and procurement infrastructure - supply-demand matching, AI-driven recommendations, transaction rails, and the commercial dynamics of a multi-sided marketplace.
One role owns the API infrastructure and developer ecosystem - the transactional backbone, external API program, developer portal, partner ecosystem, and agentic API evolution.
All four are based in Christchurch or Auckland preferably but would consider any location in NZ.
The package
Salary banding of $160k-200k AUD ($180-220k NZD) depending on experience, plus generous share options. These are not token equity - as a founding PM joining at this stage of a well-backed, fast-growing company, the options represent meaningful upside.
Full relocation costs covered for you and your family. Visa sponsorship and work rights managed completely. Onboarding flights paid for. Quarterly travel to headquarters also covered.
Who this is suitable for?
These roles require a specific combination of skills. Please read this carefully before applying.
You need five or more years owning complex B2B or infrastructure software products end to end, with real accountability for outcomes not just delivery. You need to be technically strong enough to read an API, drive a credible conversation about architecture with an engineering lead, and build a working prototype yourself before writing a spec. That last point is not optional - it is how this company discovers product.
You need to have operated in a high-growth environment where you have made hard calls and owned the consequences. Evidence of that matters more than brand names on your CV.
Backgrounds that are a strong fit include former software engineers who moved into product, founders or very early startup employees, and PMs who have owned platform, API, marketplace, or network products. AI or ML product ownership experience is highly valued for one of the four roles specifically.
This is probably not right for you if you have primarily built consumer or UX-led products, if your instinct when testing an idea is to run a design sprint rather than build something, or if you thrive in structured environments with clear process and sign-off chains.
Location
Christchurch is the engineering hub and preferred base. It has undergone an extraordinary rebuild over the past decade and is a genuinely different city to what many people picture - outstanding lifestyle, mountains, coast, and a tight-knit tech community. But if you're open to a move but in a different spot, let's chat as my client is open to it.
