Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled
Senior Oracle Developer
to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Oracle Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing Oracle-based solutions to meet our business needs. You will work closely with our cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, develop technical specifications, and deliver high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Oracle database applications, including stored procedures, triggers, functions, and packages.
- Perform data modeling, schema design, and database optimization to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Develop and maintain data integration processes between Oracle and other systems.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues.
- Conduct code reviews, performance tuning, and optimization to ensure code quality and efficiency.
- Stay up to date with the latest Oracle technologies and practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance and support as needed.
- Operate with limited supervision.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Oracle Developer, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex database solutions.
- Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL programming, with experience in Oracle database performance tuning and optimization.
- Experience with Oracle database administration tasks such as backup and recovery, user management, and security.
- Strong understanding of, and advocacy for, good database design principles, data modeling techniques, and relational database concepts.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Git and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Mandatory Experience
- Total years of experience in PL/SQL and performance tuning. Preferred experience:
7\+ years
.
- Oracle version used in the most recent project (
Oracle 19c or higher preferred
).
- Test handling of large datasets/tables (50 GB\+). Ask about any tables they remember, the size of the tables, and the information stored in the tables relevant to their project domain.
- Test experience with table partitioning strategies:
Range Partitioning, List Partitioning, and Hash Partitioning
. Ask why and how they used these strategies in the project. Candidates must explain the use case confidently.
- Test performance tuning experience with actual hands-on work. Candidates must explain using the
STAR
method. No generic answers/solutions are expected. Expect candidates to discuss
Oracle Optimizer, EXPLAIN Plans, and AWR/ASH
.
- Test PL/SQL experience with processing large datasets using
BULK COLLECT
and
FORALL
. Candidates must explain a project scenario where they used these features.
- Test experience with advanced SQL using window functions. Candidates should confidently discuss
ROW_NUMBER, RANK, DENSE_RANK, LAG, and LEAD
window functions.
Nice to Have
- Oracle Certification.
- Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., MongoDB, SQL Server).
- Experience using Tableau with Oracle.
- Experience with Starburst or other data virtualization technologies.
- Python development experience.
- Experience using MagicDraw.
