About The Role

The Business System Analyst at CHRISTUS Health plays a pivotal role in supporting the entire project life cycle for Health Plan service lines. This position involves collaborating closely with stakeholders to analyze, design, test, document, and implement medium to high complexity software activities. The analyst will leverage extensive health plan information systems knowledge and technical expertise to ensure successful project outcomes with minimal supervision. Additionally, the Business System Analyst may lead small projects, demonstrating leadership and initiative in a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities, and communicating effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in business analysis, technology development, or related roles within healthcare or similar industries.
  • Strong understanding of health plan information systems, including applications related to Business, Finance, Revenue Cycle, and Human Resources.
  • Proficiency in business process modeling, data analysis, and system documentation techniques.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems, assess risks, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with requirements gathering, use case development, and test management.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and lifecycle stages.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of assigned applications related to Business, Finance, Revenue Cycle, and Human Resources service lines.
  • Manage tasks associated with business analysis and the project management lifecycle, ensuring timely and effective delivery of project components.
  • Participate as a subject matter expert during the executing phase of project implementations, providing guidance and technical expertise.
  • Identify and analyze stakeholders impacted by system changes, understanding their influence and communication needs.
  • Utilize risk assessment techniques to identify potential issues, evaluate their impact, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate meetings, requirements workshops, and collaborative sessions to gather and clarify business needs.
  • Conduct feasibility analyses to gather relevant information, ensuring comprehensive understanding of stakeholder requirements.
  • Translate business needs into clear, concise requirements, including use cases, activity diagrams, and data models.
  • Identify opportunities for system and process improvements by analyzing current capabilities and workflows.
  • Perform interface analysis to understand technology infrastructure and data sharing mechanisms supporting business goals.
  • Develop detailed documentation such as data dictionaries, entity relationship diagrams, and system specifications.
  • Oversee release management activities, ensuring all project phases are completed and support staff is trained prior to deployment.
  • Assess system usability to enhance user interfaces, ensuring they support effective and efficient task completion.
  • Lead testing activities during project implementation, verifying that applications meet requirements and perform reliably.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, team members, and clients to facilitate project success.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries promptly, courteously, and professionally.
  • Assist in training users and team members through formal and informal sessions to promote system adoption and proficiency.
