Chief Technology Officer

We are seeking an exceptional engineering leader who combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to lead the next generation of technology innovation for a financial services and wealth management technology organization.

Responsibilities for overseeing all software development, architecture, cloud infrastructure, AI initiatives, security, and engineering operations.

The ideal candidate is both a strategic technology leader and a hands-on engineer who can guide architecture decisions, mentor engineering teams, review code, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive execution across web, mobile, cloud, and AI platforms.

Our technology ecosystem includes React, React Native, Java/Spring-based services, Azure cloud infrastructure, modern DevOps practices, and AI-powered applications designed to improve financial planning and advisory experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Leadership

• Define and execute the company's technology vision, architecture strategy, and engineering roadmap.
• Partner closely with executive leadership to align technology initiatives with business objectives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, AI platforms, and industry trends to maintain competitive advantage.
• Establish engineering standards, development processes, security policies, and architectural governance.
• Drive scalability, performance, reliability, and security across all platforms.

Engineering Management

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering organization.
• Establish performance standards, career development plans, and technical mentorship programs.
• Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
• Manage engineering priorities, project planning, resource allocation, and delivery schedules.
• Create a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Architecture \& Software Development

• Oversee architecture and development of web, mobile, API, and backend systems.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with long-term business goals.
• Review critical architecture decisions and participate in technical design reviews.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and software craftsmanship.
• Serve as the technical escalation point for complex engineering challenges.

Artificial Intelligence \& Agentic Systems

• Lead the adoption and implementation of AI-powered capabilities throughout the platform.
• Design and oversee architectures that leverage LLMs, AI agents, retrieval systems, vector databases, and workflow automation.
• Evaluate and implement AI frameworks, orchestration tools, and model-serving strategies.
• Ensure AI solutions are secure, compliant, explainable, and appropriate for financial services environments.
• Drive innovation in advisor productivity, client engagement, personalization, and operational automation through AI.

Cloud \& Infrastructure

• Own cloud architecture and operational excellence within Microsoft Azure.
• Guide infrastructure strategy across networking, security, observability, disaster recovery, and scalability.
• Establish modern DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, and platform engineering practices.
• Oversee application deployment pipelines and operational monitoring.

Security \& Compliance

• Ensure technology solutions meet financial industry security and compliance requirements.
• Partner with compliance, operations, and business leaders to maintain strong governance.
• Establish secure development lifecycle practices.
• Oversee vulnerability management, identity management, data protection, and incident response readiness.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 10\+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5\+ years leading engineering teams, technical organizations, or large development initiatives.
• Proven experience building and scaling enterprise SaaS platforms.
• Hands-on experience building production AI solutions.
• Strong backend engineering expertise with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and API design.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and enterprise software design.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, containerization, and cloud operations.
• Experience leading architecture decisions across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Excellent communication and executive presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience serving as CTO, VP Engineering, Director of Engineering, or Principal Architect.
• Experience within financial services, wealth management, fintech, retirement planning, or regulated industries.
• Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or similar AI platforms.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and distributed messaging systems.
• Experience implementing enterprise security frameworks and compliance programs.
• Experience with React and modern front-end architecture.
• Experience with React Native mobile application development.
