Role Description

The Librarian 4 role is a full-time, on-site position based in Belvidere, NJ, supporting advanced public library services and operations. This role typically includes providing reference and reader’s advisory services, managing and evaluating library collections, and overseeing cataloging or metadata-related tasks. The Librarian 4 may coordinate programs and instruction for patrons, support library staff with training and guidance, and participate in outreach activities to promote library resources. Day-to-day work includes supervising or leading projects, maintaining accurate records and reports, collaborating with other branches and county departments, and ensuring that services align with professional standards and community needs.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Library Services and Library Management, including public service, supervision, and operational coordination.
• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program is required for senior librarian roles.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and community partners, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with integrated library systems, online databases, and common office software; willingness to learn new technologies.
• Experience in a public library setting, particularly in a supervisory or lead role, is highly beneficial.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and provide inclusive, respectful service to a diverse patron base.
