Remote ED Coder

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The remote ED Coder is responsible for assigning Injections/Infusions, facility E/M diagnosis and appropriate Modifier codes using ICD-10-CM utilizing coding systems. Experience with diagnosis coding, some manual charges, E/M leveling, and any procedures. Responsible for coding Outpatient records with a focus on ED accounts assuring proper CPT, ICD-10 assignment for all coded records. Will also move around to help out as needed with Labs accounts. Communicate with the Workforce Manager when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Extensive knowledge of 3M encoder, Meditech is required. Must have a minimum 2yrs recent Acute Care Outpatient coding experience. Comfortable with hitting a 95% accuracy or better and hitting productivity standards. Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.

Minimum Required Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two (2) years recent acute care hospital Outpatient ED, Inj/Inf, Facility E/M Coding and abstracting experience.
- Extensive knowledge with recent 3M and Meditech software.
- CCS, RHIA, or RHIT Credentials required.
- Strong communication (written/verbal) with experience in writing queries
- Must be technically savvy.
Working Hours Needed
- M – F or weekends, 40 hours a week
- Flexible hours during training and prebill review process
