Job Description

  • You are a polished and integral member of the senior team who has mastered all baseline marketing programs, drive projects with enthusiasm and organization, and have developed strong management skills
  • You’re able to manage multiple accounts programs with little day-to-day oversight and have established strong relationships and rapport with clients
  • You help drive the success of demand generation, digital marketing, and brand projects through stellar project management and operational support
  • You have a “big picture view” and continuously think beyond what is expected by the client
  • You proactively and consistently bring new strategies, tactics and campaign ideas to the table — for clients and/or internal teams, committees and the agency
  • You motivate and empower your teams to meet and exceed client goals
  • You are a proactive and positive driver of the agency’s culture, image, and brand

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Account Management \& Client Relations:

  • You manage marketing programs and campaigns on behalf of clients, ranging from content, digital, advertising/paid, social, web and more, and ensure they align to the client’s broader demand generation/sales goals
  • You proactively identify opportunities for clients, point out potential issues, set strategy for accounts and ensure both monthly and long-term goals are set and met for all accounts
  • You have developed domain expertise critical to the practice that drives strategy for both existing clients and new business prospects and are able to articulate strategies steeped in domain knowledge to be perceived as an expert in your field
  • You take the lead in developing strategic campaign recommendations that demonstrate a proficient knowledge of market dynamics, modern marketing best practices, message development, marketing distribution channels and promotional vehicles and campaign measurement
  • You adeptly manage the execution of campaigns, working with internal client resources, agency resources and external media and marketing partners
  • You strive to do more than is required or expected in your role; without being asked, you do things for the client or team that help drive campaigns or programs forward
  • You can successfully manage the profitability of an account, and understand how that fits into the broader agency financials
  • You look for ways to think bigger and integrate interdisciplinary ideas (marketing, media, content, social, influencer) where it will advance the client’s goals and play the client-facing role while working behind the scenes with other team members
  • You possess creativity and initiative, and you drive accounts with enthusiasm and organization
  • You’re the day-to-day contact for clients and have established strong rapport as a trusted advisor and strategic partner
  • You’re able to manage client expectations related to campaigns/media strategy to ensure they are realistic and achievable, and you’re able to diplomatically and productively push back when they’re not
  • You effectively drive internal team meetings and client meetings
  • You actively participate in new client kick-off meetings and, when relevant, drive them
  • You play a strong role in managing the hours on your accounts and helping to stay within our budgets
  • You manage all client reporting, including monthly reports and meeting agendas
  • You stay on top of industry trends and the competitive landscape pertinent to the client’s industry and provide insightful recommendations on how to proactively leverage the information
  • You’re vocal in internal meetings and internal communications, sharing ideas across your client channels as well as agency channels

People Development

  • You oversee the work of each person on your account teams to ensure client goals are met, and that team members are receiving proper guidance and opportunities for growth
  • You share the mentality that a team will always deliver better results than individuals working in silos, and inspire others to work effectively toward common, positive goals
  • You help facilitate client interactions for people on your team and guide team members on how to build their own relationships with the client
  • You manage team members and are responsible for their growth and development
  • You’re a strong mentor/coach to people you don’t directly manage; people come to you for advice or support
  • You provide direct, constructive feedback and coaching to teammates; you’re able to communicate about difficult topics in a diplomatic and respectful way, while exerting an assertive approach when necessary
  • You play a strong role in the recruiting process, ensure the success of hires, and help provide a smooth and successful onboarding experience

Content Development

  • You develop messaging, marketing collateral, website content, and digital marketing materials
  • You develop higher-level strategic documents, including messaging platforms and campaign plans
  • You edit and provide direction on the writing work of team members

Marketing Strategies

  • You have an in depth understanding of marketing methodologies, including online content strategy and development, multimedia and social media production and management, email communications, electronic database, content management, and web analytics
  • You oversee PM activities executed by Senior Marketing Account Executive or Marketing Manager with reporting, tracking and measurement
  • You write a range of documents with little to no editing from senior leaders and also edit and provide direction on writing work of other team members
  • You manage the writing and development of higher-level strategic documents, including messaging platforms and PR plans, and propose new, creative ways for content to reflect the client’s growing brand and reputation

Measurement

  • You effectively connect the dots between the work we do and our client’s goals, OKRs or KPIs
  • You’re able to create measurement strategies with sound methodologies
  • You begin identifying new tools and trends that enhance our understanding of measurement tools and methodologies so we can create compelling reports for our clients
  • You have a relentless drive to meet or exceed client goals

Business Development

  • You treat Merritt Group as a client, identifying new opportunities and areas of growth, and engage, amplify, and contribute to our brand
  • You participate in new business meetings and provide meaningful input and value
  • You project manage the development of new business proposals and create strategic content
  • You attend at least four to six networking events per year
  • You are building and maintaining a list of business development prospects and securing at least four new business introductory opportunities per year from your outreach/networking

Agency Operations

  • You play a leadership role on at least one program at the agency
  • You bring new ideas to the table that help streamline efficiencies across account teams and the agency and provide insightful recommendations to improve upon existing operations
  • You spot and raise concerns about workplace culture to the leadership team
