Job Description
We are looking for a
Senior Mechanical Development Engineer
to play a pivotal role in our engineering lifecycle. In this position, you will lead complex mechanical development activities, integrating technical solutions that balance performance, cost, quality, and regulatory requirements.
As a senior member of the team, you will not only drive innovation within your specific area of expertise but also act as a mentor, fostering a culture of technical excellence and lifelong learning across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Development \& Delivery: Develop robust technical solutions according to defined prerequisites (function, style, volume, geometry, cost, and quality targets).
- Integration \& Quality: Lead development activities, integrate deliverables from cross-functional partners, and ensure all designs meet business requirements before release.
- Strategic Input: Influence product and system roadmaps through deep technical expertise and historical component data analysis.
- Innovation: Actively participate in business development and innovation initiatives.
- Networking: Develop and manage a strong professional network across the wider Volvo Group to influence project prerequisites and facilitate collaboration.
- Mentorship: Serve as a coach and trainer for junior team members and peers, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Experience: Typically requires 5\+ years of relevant experience in mechanical development.
- Technical Skills:
+ Advanced knowledge of mechanical design processes.
+ Experience delivering complex engineering solutions from concept to production.
+ Ability to build a "T-shaped" profile, maintaining deep expertise in a core discipline while expanding knowledge across broader engineering domains.
- Leadership \& Soft Skills:
+ Proven ability to mentor, train, and coach others.
+ Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate the value of your contributions to the Business Area (BA) or Technology Department (TD).
+ Capability to work confidently and influence outcomes within a large-scale global organization.
