Role Description
The Senior Oracle Database Administrator is a full-time remote role responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing Oracle database environments, with a pay range of $35\.59–$45\.78 per hour. Day-to-day tasks include installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle databases, monitoring performance, tuning queries, and managing storage and capacity. The role involves configuring and overseeing database replication, backup, and recovery processes to ensure high availability and data integrity. The Senior Oracle Database Administrator will troubleshoot complex database issues, implement security best practices, manage user access and roles, and collaborate with engineering, UX, and product teams to support application development and deployments. This role also contributes to documentation, process improvements, and strategic planning for database infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Oracle Database Administration and general Database Administration, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Experience with database Replication, backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting complex database issues, root cause analysis, and incident resolution.
- Knowledge of Database Security, including access control, encryption, auditing, and compliance best practices.
- Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting languages (such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automation.
- Familiarity with cloud or virtualized environments hosting Oracle databases is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous experience in a senior or lead DBA role and relevant professional certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus.
