Controller - Database Administration

Main Objectives

Ensuring the smooth and secure operation of the organization's database systems. This involves managing and optimizing database performance, implementing data backup and recovery strategies, and ensuring data integrity and security.

Main Duties

• Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of databases for optimal performance and data integrity. Monitor and analyze database performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimizations in order to ensure efficient operations and improved response times through performance tuning.
• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data, ensuring business continuity in case of system failures or data loss. Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime in order to ensure smooth transitions for uninterrupted operations.
• Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, user permissions, and encryption, in order to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches.
• Manage system-level access controls and database access, including granting and revoking user privileges, maintaining user roles and permissions in order to ensure compliance with security policies.
• Provide expertise in SAP BASIS administration, including system installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting in order to ensure the smooth operation of SAP systems.
• Identify and resolve database-related issues, such as performance problems, data corruption, or connectivity issues, through effective troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques in order to minimize disruptions to business operations and prevent data loss.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for databases, outlining procedures and strategies in order to recover data and restore operations in the event of a disaster or system failure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and stakeholders, in order to understand requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure seamless integration of database systems.
• Comply with the Company's and airport authorities’ health, safety \& security requirements.
• Carries out other similar or related duties as directed by the management.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• A minimum of 4 years of experience.

Other Essential Requirements:

• Professional certificate in related software (like Oracle/SAP/MSSQL is an advantage).
• Remote database administration and database design (logical and physical) experience.
• Exposure to database security and backup/ recovery procedures.
• Query performance tuning exposure.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex database projects.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Continuous learning mindset and willingness to stay updated with industry trends.
• Additional certifications or advanced degrees in database administration or related fields are a plus.
