About the job:

For our growing division Motion in Azuqueca de Henares (Spain) at the earliest possible date we are looking for a:

Commodity Director.

Reporting to the Sr. Director Procurement, the Commodity Director is responsible for the sourcing strategy and the management of strategic raw materials and components across the battery value chain. The objective is to ensure supply security, cost optimization, sustainability, and innovation capability in a dynamic market environment.

What will your daily responsibilities include in this role?

• Develop and implement global commodity strategies for battery-related materials and components.
• Analyze market trends, price developments, and geopolitical risks.
• Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
• Ensure supply security and risk management across the supply chain.
• Lead price and contract negotiations with a focus on long-term partnerships.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers (including ESG and compliance criteria).
• Collaborate with R\&D, production, and quality teams to drive innovation.
• Take responsibility for cost optimization programs and KPI tracking.
• Support make-or-buy decisions.
• Lead and develop our commodity team.

What we ask for:

• Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Materials Science, or a comparable field.
• Minimum of 8 years experience in strategic procurement, ideally in the battery, automotive, or chemical industry.
• Proven experience in international negotiations and supplier management.
• Leadership experience in global teams.
• Experience in multinational environment.
• Business fluent English language.
• Proactive communication with colleagues.
• IT skills and good knowledge in IT tools to establish and develop cost control and reporting (Excel, Oracle…).
