Job Summary:

The HR Manager serves as the primary owner of Human Resources at trueCABLE, responsible for building, leading, and continuously improving HR programs, processes, and employee experience across the organization.

This role reports directly to the CEO and works in close partnership with the Chief of Staff and VP of Finance to ensure alignment across performance management, learning and development, compensation, benefits, workforce planning, payroll, and organizational priorities.

As the most senior HR practitioner in a lean HR team, the HR Manager owns HR strategy execution, employee relations, compliance, performance management, retention, and scalable HR infrastructure. This role also provides direct leadership and day-to-day guidance to the HR Generalist, ensuring consistent execution, strong data integrity, and a high-quality employee experience.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Operations \& Employee Experience

  • Design and optimize HR processes and programs across the employee lifecycle
  • Oversee onboarding, offboarding, employee records, and policy execution
  • Own data governance, audit controls, and data integrity standards within HRIS (BambooHR)
  • Ensure HR data and reporting accuracy through ongoing validation, periodic audits, and resolution of systemic data issues in partnership with the HR Generalist.
  • Establish clear HR workflows, documentation, and operating standards, and ensure accuracy over time
  • Ensure a consistent, high-quality employee experience

Talent Acquisition \& Workforce Planning

  • Lead recruiting strategy and hiring execution, including role definition, candidate evaluation, and offers
  • Partner with hiring managers to improve hiring outcomes and ensure a consistent candidate experience
  • Support workforce planning and hiring prioritization with the CEO, Chief of Staff, and VP of Finance
  • Provide oversight to recruiting coordination handled by the HR Generalist

Compensation, Benefits \& Payroll Partnership

  • Own compensation strategy and execution, including benchmarking, merit cycles, promotions, and pay adjustments
  • Oversee benefits programs and vendor relationships
  • Partner with the VP of Finance to align compensation, payroll, benefits, and employee data
  • Resolve compensation, benefits, and payroll issues requiring manager-level judgment

Employee Relations \& Culture

  • Own employee relations, including investigations, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex employee concerns
  • Escalate high-risk or executive-level matters to the CEO
  • Reinforce company culture and support retention and succession planning

Compliance, Policy \& Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Own HR policies, handbook updates, and compliance practices
  • Own audit outcomes and compliance strategy, including reporting and HR documentation.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update processes accordingly

Performance Management, Development \& Engagement

  • Lead performance management, including review cycles and manager enablement
  • Partner with the Chief of Staff on leadership development and learning initiatives
  • Own engagement strategy and drive improvements based on feedback and data
  • Support company-wide communications and analyze retention trends

HR Leadership \& Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and provide oversight to the HR Generalist
  • Set priorities, assign work, and ensure clear ownership across HR
  • Own oversight of HR data integrity, reporting accuracy, and resolution of systemic data issues.
  • Lead HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • 5-8 years of progressive HR experience; a minimum of three years of human resource management experience is preferred.
  • Experience supporting payroll administration and multi-state hiring and compliance (including employment tax, onboarding, and state-specific requirements).
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP (or PHR/SPHR) is highly desired.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment laws, compliance standards, and HR best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, manage complex employee relations issues, and develop people programs
  • Experience using BambooHR or a similar HRIS platform
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to build trust, handle sensitive situations with discretion, and collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Must be based in the United States and able to work independently in a fully remote environment

Physical requirements:

  • Sitting for most of the work shift, constantly operating a computer with extended hours viewing a computer screen, constant use of fingers, hands, and arms for typing, ability to regularly talk and hear, occasionally lift, push or pull 25 pounds, occasional bending or reaching.
