Job Description
The Vice President of Product Management serves as a key executive responsible for the company's product strategy and product management framework. This role oversees the company's product portfolio planning, product innovation direction, commercialization execution, and product lifecycle management. As a member of the executive leadership team, this position coordinates product management, user insights, product planning, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure that the product strategy aligns seamlessly with the company's overall corporate strategy, thereby driving sustainable growth and market leadership.
Key Responsibilities
I. Product Strategy \& Portfolio Management
- Formulate the company's medium-to-long-term product strategy and development roadmap.
- Oversee product portfolio planning and prioritization management.
- Define target markets, product positioning, and value propositions.
- Optimize the product investment structure to ensure resources are focused on high-value areas.
- Assume accountability for product revenue, profitability, and market competitiveness.
II. Product Lifecycle \& Commercialization Management
- Coordinate the entire product lifecycle—from concept definition, requirements management, and R\&D collaboration to market launch and promotion.
- Lead the formulation and execution of Go-to-Market strategies for new products.
- Manage product pricing strategies and profitability models.
- Drive continuous product iteration and innovative upgrades.
III. User Insights \& Market Competitive Strategy
- Establish systematic mechanisms for user research and market analysis.
- Identify evolving customer needs and emerging industry trends.
- Develop differentiated competitive strategies and product innovation directions.
- Champion a data-driven approach to product decision-making.
IV. Cross-Functional Collaboration \& Resource Integration
- Collaborate closely with R\&D, Design, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams.
- Drive product prioritization and resource allocation within a matrix organizational structure.
- Coordinate progress tracking and risk management for major product initiatives.
- Serve as the product domain representative when reporting to the CEO or Board of Directors.
V. Product Performance \& Data Management
- Establish a comprehensive product KPI framework (covering revenue, profit, user growth, retention rates, etc.).
- Periodically evaluate product performance and Return on Investment (ROI).
- Leverage data analytics to optimize product strategies and resource allocation.
- Manage product budgets and cost controls.
VI. Organizational \& Talent Development
- Lead and mentor the product management team and Product Owners.
- Develop a competency model and career development framework for Product Managers.
- Build a high-performance product organization and a robust succession pipeline.
- Foster a customer-centric and innovation-driven product culture. VII. Risk and Compliance Management
Manage risks associated with product development and commercialization;
Ensure product compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements;
Safeguard intellectual property and technological assets;
Maintain brand image and long-term product competitiveness.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field;
MBA preferred.
Work Experience
15\+ years of experience in product management or a related field;
At least 15 years of experience in senior-level product management;
Proven experience successfully managing multiple product lines or a product portfolio;
Demonstrated track record of accountability for product P\&L or revenue growth.
