Job Description

VP of Cybersecurity - Own the Whole Cyber Function

Up to $500k

Remote, US

Most IT providers bolt security on. This one was built around it.

This is an IT and security services business that puts security at the centre of everything it does. Its customers are growing organisations in regulated industries, where getting security wrong isn't an option. Security is run in-house with its own SOC and security team, which is still pretty rare for a business like this.

The opportunity

The business has grown through acquisition, and cyber has run as its own world for a few years. Now it needs a leader to bring it all together, raise the bar, and make security part of how the whole company works.

That's this role. You'd be the most senior cyber person in the business, reporting straight to the President.

Why it's a great role

  • You'd own the whole function, not just the SOC. That means detection and response, security engineering, offensive security, advisory, incident response, and the platform team behind the tooling
  • You get to build, not just maintain. Set the operating model, shape the org, define the roles and decide what "good" looks like
  • Real commercial ownership. You'd own the economics of the function and have a say in how security services are priced and packaged
  • You make the stack calls: what to standardise, what to buy, what to retire and what isn't worth the time
  • It's big enough to have real scale but still moves quickly, so there's plenty of room to make your mark

What we need from you

  • You've run a SOC and a broader cyber function: offensive, incident response, advisory, security engineering.
  • You've built things from scratch. You've designed an org chart, created roles and launched new capabilities
  • You come from an MSP, MSSP or customer-facing security services business, and you've been close to the end customer
  • You know your numbers (cost to serve, margin, utilisation, MTTD and MTTR) and can talk about them without issue
  • You fix problems with good process, not by adding another tool
  • You've got a network across SOC, detection engineering, offensive security and advisory that you'd want to bring with you

What's in it for you

  • A top-level seat with direct access to the President and executive team
  • The chance to put your stamp on a function and build the team you've always wanted to run
  • Remote within the US, with regular travel to see your team and customers

If this sounds like you, apply now, and a member of the team will be in touch.
