We are seeking a

hands-on Controller

to lead the accounting and financial reporting function across a portfolio of companies. This role reports directly to the CEO and serves as the primary financial steward of the business.

The companies operate on shared systems with a unified banking relationship, allowing this role to focus on core accounting excellence rather than treasury complexity or audit management.

You will collaborate with an external accounting partner while helping build and strengthen the internal financial infrastructure that supports continued growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA or experienced accounting professional who wants meaningful ownership, direct exposure to leadership, and the chance to grow within a scaling organization.

What You’ll Do

Core Accounting \& Close

• Own the monthly close process across multiple entities in collaboration with the external accounting team
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, and financial records in QuickBooks
• Ensure accuracy of day-to-day accounting work completed by the external accounting partner
• Prepare and manage consolidated and entity-level financial statements for leadership review
• Oversee intercompany transactions, allocations, and consolidation adjustments

External Accounting Management

• Serve as the primary liaison with the external accounting firm
• Review and oversee their work to ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness
• Coordinate tax preparation, compliance filings, and potential future audit readiness

Revenue \& Subscription Accounting

• Oversee revenue recognition across subscription, event, certification, and advertising revenue streams
• Manage deferred revenue schedules and ensure accurate billing and collections
• Partner with operations teams on contract and invoicing workflows

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for executive leadership
• Maintain clean, well-documented financial records capable of supporting a future audit process
• Support financial due diligence and integration work related to acquisitions

AP/AR \& Internal Controls

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable across entities
• Maintain strong internal controls appropriate for a growing private company
• Support cash flow visibility and coordination across the organization’s banking structure

What We’re Looking For

• CPA or equivalent with 8\+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in private equity-backed companies or multi-entity environments is a plus
• Strong knowledge of subscription and SaaS revenue models
• Proficiency in QuickBooks; experience working with outsourced accounting providers preferred
• Comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor in a lean, remote organization
• Excellent judgment, discretion, and communication skills, with frequent exposure to executive leadership

: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM
