Job Description

Fence \& Deck Connection, Inc. is seeking an experienced, dependable, and skilled Deck Installer to join our growing installation team. We're looking for a seasoned craftsman with extensive experience building high-quality residential decks who takes pride in precision, efficiency, and exceptional workmanship.

The ideal candidate has experience installing pressure-treated wood, composite, PVC, and hardwood decking systems, understands structural framing, and can work independently or as part of a crew. What You'll Do

  • Build and install residential decks from start to finish
  • Install pressure-treated, composite, PVC, and hardwood decking systems
  • Construct deck framing, stairs, railings, skirting, and accessories
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and job specifications
  • Measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and local building codes
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and project managers
  • Load, unload, and care for company tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Work efficiently while maintaining superior craftsmanship
  • Assist with occasional deck repairs or service work when needed

Qualifications

  • 3\+ years of professional deck installation experience required
  • Strong knowledge of residential deck construction and framing
  • Experience installing composite decking brands such as Trex, TimberTech, Fiberon, Deckorators, or similar products
  • Experience installing wood decking and deck railing systems
  • Ability to read plans, layouts, and construction drawings
  • Strong understanding of building codes and safe construction practices
  • Excellent measuring, layout, and carpentry skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Positive attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating skid steers or other construction equipment
  • Experience with screened porches, pergolas, or outdoor structures
  • OSHA Construction Safety certification
  • Crew lead or foreman experience is a plus

Physical, Visual \& Hearing Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 75 pounds regularly
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely operate tools and equipment. Ability to travel between residential and commercial jobsites as needed
  • Visual ability to read measurements, job specifications, installation layouts, and safely operate tools and equipment
  • Ability to visually inspect workmanship, materials, and potential safety hazards
  • Hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors in both indoor and outdoor jobsite environments
  • Ability to hear and recognize operational and safety-related sounds associated with tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the day

Work Environment

  • Primarily field-based work environment at residential and commercial jobsites
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and uneven terrain
  • Fast-paced construction and service environment
  • Regular use of power tools, equipment, and company vehicles

Licenses \& Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
  • Ability to pass MVR screening if operating company vehicles
  • OSHA or construction safety certifications are a plus
