Machine Learning Engineer

Location:

The Hague, Netherlands (On-site)

Key Responsibilities

• Apply established ML/AI techniques to new problems and datasets.
• Build, optimize, and maintain machine learning models and end‑to‑end pipelines.
• Evaluate and monitor model performance, data quality, and system outcomes.
• Identify issues in models, pipelines, and datasets, proposing and implementing improvements.
• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain programs and scripts supporting ML development and deployment.
• Follow engineering standards and best practices to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
• Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies clearly and proactively.
• Collaborate through code reviews, design reviews, and shared ownership of deliverables.
• Define and implement ML/AI lifecycle practices, including CI/CD, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Deploy automation to support repeatable and secure build/release processes.
• Validate ML/AI modules against functional, quality, and performance criteria.
• Apply data science techniques to improve training data, features, and model performance.
• Build and maintain data pipelines using ETL/ELT standards.
• Contribute to technology monitoring, internal reports, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 5\+ years of hands‑on experience building ML/AI solutions in Python.
• Strong foundations in machine learning concepts and production‑grade software engineering.
• Proven experience with end‑to‑end ML pipelines: data processing, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Experience adapting pre‑trained models, including LLMs, to business use cases.
• Solid MLOps experience: version control, experiment tracking, model packaging, deployment, monitoring, and automation.
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Practical experience with Docker/Podman and Kubernetes in cloud environments.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Argo Workflows.
• Strong experience building and maintaining REST APIs (ideally for ML model serving).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

Preferences

• Experience building AI agent backends (e.g., LangChain, pydantic‑ai) wrapped in FastAPI.
• Full‑stack experience with TypeScript frameworks such as Next.js.
• Experience working in air‑gapped or restricted‑network environments.
