Position Summary:
Performs routine components of cell culture and FISH workflows in a clinical diagnostic laboratory, beginning to end with limited supervision. Focuses on mastering complete processing of samples, foundational techniques, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Include all responsibilities of Cell Culture Technologist I
- Adherence to company-established SOPs and quality control as defined by CLIA and CAP standards
- Follow SOPs for clinical testing and maintain chain-of-custody documentation
- Gains experience and training to troubleshoot technical issues and instrument errors
- Performs data review and first pass Quality Control of sample processing results alerting Supervisors of any deviations identified
- Under supervision, troubleshoots poorly performing samples to determine root cause and solutions
- Gain expertise in tissue identification and culture contamination identification
- Accurate documentation of all results in laboratory management systems (LIMS)
- Performs reagent QC as assigned by Team Lead or General Supervisor
- Assist with equipment maintenance, calibration and associated documentation
- Train junior staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, medical laboratory science, or related field
- 1–3 years of laboratory experience
- Intermediate understanding of aseptic technique
Skills \& Competencies:
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Familiarity with LIMS systems and electronic sample tracking and data entry
- Technical proficiency in cell culture and FISH
- Familiarity with regulated lab environments
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently
