Job Description

The candidate must possess deep knowledge of railroad operations and hands-on experience working with various Crew Management System modules. They should be skilled in requirements elicitation, business process analysis, user story development, feature decomposition, and defining logical boundaries for product capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, railroad operations teams, product owners, and technology teams to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Facilitate requirement workshops, stakeholder interviews, and discovery sessions.
  • Understand and document current-state and future-state business processes related to crew management operations.
  • Develop clear and actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements.
  • Define and document logical feature boundaries, business rules, process flows, and system interactions.
  • Conduct gap analysis and identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Work closely with Product Owners and Development teams during backlog refinement, sprint planning, and implementation activities.
  • Translate complex business needs into functional specifications and solution requirements.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect triage, and validation of delivered functionality.
  • Ensure traceability between business objectives, requirements, user stories, and delivered solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions align with operational and regulatory railroad requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5\+ years of Business Analyst experience in enterprise application development and product delivery environments.
  • Hands-on experience working with Crew Management Systems (CMS) and understanding of railroad crew operations is a must.
  • Experience with multiple Crew Management modules, including but not limited to:
  • Crew Planning
  • Crew Assignment
  • Crew Calling
  • Crew Availability Management
  • Crew Qualification Management
  • Crew Timekeeping
  • Crew Scheduling
  • Rest Compliance Management
  • Workforce Management
  • Crew Board Management
  • Proven expertise in:
  • Requirements gathering and analysis
  • User story creation
  • Acceptance criteria definition
  • Business process modeling
  • Feature decomposition
  • Defining logical feature boundaries
  • Gap analysis
  • Functional specifications
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Railinc systems and railroad operational platforms.
