Senior Researcher, Commercial Insights Lead

Day Rate: £350 Inside IR35
This is a high-impact freelance opportunity for a senior research professional to shape how a complex organisation understands its customers, markets, and growth opportunities. The project sits at the intersection of deep research expertise and commercial decision-making, with regular exposure to senior stakeholders and clear influence on strategic direction.

The Role and Deliverables
- Lead commercial insights across a Customer and Market Intelligence programme.
- Structure ambiguous business questions into clear, hypothesis-driven research plans.
- Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative research using appropriate methodologies.
- Synthesise complex data into compelling narratives with clear commercial recommendations.
- Present insights and strategic recommendations to Director-level stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Define actionable next steps that directly inform product, channel, and audience strategies.
Your Skills \& Experience
- Strong experience as a hands-on senior researcher, operating without line management responsibility.
- Advanced capability across qualitative and quantitative research methods, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and experimentation.
- Proven ability to connect customer and market insight to commercial outcomes.
- Confidence working with data and analysis tools such as R or Python, SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting to senior and executive audiences.
- Background or exposure to behavioural science, psychology, sociology, statistics, CX, user research, market research, or consumer insights.
- Experience with segmentation, journey mapping, or voice of customer programmes is highly valued.
- Consulting or agency-side research experience is beneficial.
This contract runs for an initial three-month period with a hybrid working pattern, including time onsite in a London office.
