POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager of Logistics is responsible for overseeing and optimizing outbound logistics operations, including shipping and small pack strategies, with end-to-end ownership of performance, cost, service levels, and scalability. This role includes developing and executing innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and support growth initiatives, while leading and developing a high-performing team to ensure the seamless flow of goods/products throughout the supply chain network.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, analytical thinking, and demonstrated experience driving change and continuous improvement, with a strong background managing high-volume shipping and small pack processes within a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive outbound shipping and small pack strategies aligned with organizational goals, customer expectations, and long-term growth plans.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all outbound logistics activities, including small parcel, LTL, FTL, and specialized freight.
  • Lead, mentor, train, coach, and manage a team of professionals and frontline leaders, fostering engagement, accountability, and professional development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to improve service levels, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Analyze current logistics processes and systems to identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and scalability.
  • Oversee transportation planning, carrier selection, contract negotiations, rate optimization, and performance management.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on KPIs including OTIF, cost per shipment, carrier performance, labor productivity, and customer service metrics.
  • Prepare and present performance updates, risk assessments, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with vendors, carriers, and 3PL partners to drive performance improvements and maintain strong strategic partnerships.
  • Partner cross-functionally with production, planning, project management, sales, and project service coordinators to align outbound priorities and execution.
  • Identify operational, capacity, and service risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other applicable regulations, and promote a strong culture of safety and operational discipline.
  • Contribute to annual operating plan (AOP) development, budget planning, and cost forecasting for outbound logistics.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has direct reports and is accountable for team performance, succession planning, and workforce development.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives while delivering results.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; advanced Excel skills strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP, MRP, TMS, WMS, or order management platforms is highly preferred.
  • Experience leveraging data, reporting tools, and dashboards to drive operational insights and accountability.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10\+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, shipping, or fulfillment operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in industrial or distribution environments.
  • Strong preference for experience supporting customized or engineered-to-order manufacturing solutions.
  • Proven success managing large freight spend and complex carrier networks.
