Job Description
PRINCIPAL
- REMOTE, UK
Multiplayer Comics by Multic is a unique sandbox for Multiplayer Interactive Stories with instant publishing, which allows for some novel writing experiences (pardon the pun). We are blending human imagination with AI to produce real-time multiplayer comics and interactive stories.
Our Principal Narrative Designer \& Game Writer defines the creative grammar of the platform itself. You are not just writing stories, you are designing the narrative systems and conventions that every writer on Multic will use. Branching architecture, multiplayer narrative patterns, AI-assisted generation, player agency, you think about these at the level of craft and system design.
About The Role
You define what great interactive storytelling looks like on Multic, the structures, the standards, and the tools that let writers produce work that could not exist on any other platform.
What narrative system or framework have you designed that shaped how other writers created within it and what did you learn about balancing creative freedom with narrative quality?
What You’ll Do
- Defining the narrative design language for Multic, branching patterns, multiplayer story structures, pacing conventions, and the rules that help writers get the most from the platform.
- Designing frameworks that connect AI generation to narrative intent, working with AI Engineering so generated characters, dialogue, and scenes serve the story rather than interrupt it.
- Building creative standards and style guides for external writers, setting the quality bar without constraining creative range.
- Shaping the product roadmap from a narrative perspective, working with engineering and product leadership to prioritise features that unlock storytelling potential.
- Writing and publishing original work that demonstrates what the medium can do at its best, proof by example, not by memo.
- Representing Multic’s creative vision at games writing events, narrative design conferences, and in the interactive fiction community, as someone who practises the craft, not just talks about it.
We would like to see your interactive narrative portfolio, any framework you designed that other writers used, and your thinking on what multiplayer does to storytelling. This role is for someone with opinions about the medium and the work to back them up.
