R.J. Heating \& Cooling is hiring an experienced commercial HVAC service technician who wants consistent work, strong benefits, and opportunities to earn additional income through equipment, parts, and indoor air quality sales.

This position focuses on commercial service but also includes occasional residential service calls as scheduling and workload require. We’re looking for someone comfortable working in both settings and helping the team maintain consistent, year-round service.

Family-owned and serving Northeast Ohio since 1946, we offer organized dispatch and support in the field. We’re looking for someone who can independently diagnose problems, complete quality repairs, and communicate clearly with customers.

Pay and Earning Opportunities

Your compensation includes $30–$45 per hour based on experience, technical ability, and the commercial equipment you can independently service, with overtime opportunities, plus uncapped commissions on sales you make:

2\.5% on new equipment sales

5% on parts sales

10% on indoor air quality products

$80,000–$120,000 Estimated Annual Earning Potential or More. Commissions are paid in addition to your hourly wages, with no cap on the commissions you can earn. Additional earning opportunities include spiffs, other incentives, and company contests as offered.

What You’ll Do

Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.

Handle occasional residential service and maintenance calls as scheduling and workload require.

Service rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, heating equipment, and related controls.

Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigerant, and airflow issues.

Read wiring diagrams and technical information to identify problems and complete repairs.

Perform preventive maintenance and identify developing equipment issues.

Explain findings and recommend appropriate repairs, replacements, and indoor air quality products.

Complete accurate service records and communicate with dispatch and customers.

Maintain a clean, safe work area and professional appearance.

What We’re Looking For

At least five years of commercial HVAC service experience

Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to complete service calls independently

Experience troubleshooting commercial rooftop units, split systems, and associated electrical controls

Ability and willingness to perform occasional residential HVAC service

Commercial boiler and hydronic system experience preferred

EPA Universal certification

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Professional communication and a commitment to quality workmanship

This is an experienced service position. Installation-only or routine maintenance experience does not replace the required diagnostic and repair experience.

Schedule and Location

Full-time, Monday through Friday, day shift, with participation in the on-call rotation. Based in the Brook Park area and serving Northeast Ohio.
