Job Description
Technical Program Manager, Hardware
Austin, onsite. Open to candidates relocating.
A venture backed deep tech startup is building a next generation wearable headset that reads the body in real time, integrating multimodal physiological sensing into hardware moving toward production. Early team, real funding, a lot of moving parts.
They are hiring a Hardware TPM to drive execution across mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, validation, suppliers and manufacturing. This is not a generic PM seat. You need enough hardware in your bones to see the risk before it lands, drive issues to closure, and keep a fast moving build on the rails.
What you will own
- Integrated program execution across every hardware discipline and the CM partners
- Schedules, dependency maps, build plans, risk registers, decision logs and clean leadership updates
- Build readiness across Proto, EVT, DVT, PVT and ramp, with clear entry and exit criteria
- Early risk spotting and mitigation with the right cross functional owners
- An operating rhythm that creates clarity without becoming process for its own sake
What you will need
- Seven to twelve plus years in hardware program or technical program management, or an engineering path into it
- Driven complex hardware programs with tight mechanical, electrical, firmware and supplier integration
- Supported at least one product from prototype through production ramp
- Real fluency in hardware phases, validation, tooling and manufacturing readiness
- The judgment to challenge assumptions and drive ambiguous problems to closure without leaning on authority
Nice to have
- VR, AR, wearable, biosignal or medical device hardware experience
- An engineering, validation or manufacturing background before TPM
- Startup pace, evolving requirements and fast tradeoffs
