Senior Legal Counsel

Job Purpose

Provide legal guidance pertaining to the company’s diverse portfolio. Working closely with senior management and internal teams (including operations, finance, compliance and procurement), as well as external stakeholders, to support the delivery of business goals.

Responsibilities \& Accountabilities:

Supply Chain Contracts

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including supply contracts and service agreements.
• Develop and implement standard contract templates and procedures to streamline the contracting process

Corporate Governance

• Drive the implementation of corporate governance policies and practices, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Advise senior management on governance matters, shareholder rights, and fiduciary responsibilities.

Joint Ventures

• Provide legal support to asset managers in the oversight of joint ventures.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external counsel to ensure transactions are executed in a legally sound manner.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable energy industry laws and regulations, including environmental, safety, and labor laws.
• Monitor and assess regulatory developments that may impact the company’s operations.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, industry peers, and external counsel.

Education and Experience

• Degree in Law from top rated university – minimum LLB level.
• Minimum 12 years of experience working in a similar role, with \+5 years as senior member of a corporate legal function or an international law firm.
• Proven experience in the energy industry and corporate matters, including compliance and governance.
• Excellent contract negotiation, drafting, and reviewing skills.
• Proficiency in handling complex transactions.
• Excellent command of the English language.
