About the Role

As our Data and Analytics capability continues to grow, we're looking for both a Data Engineer - Permanent and a Senior Data Engineer - Fixed Term for 12 months to join our team. These roles can be based in either our Auckland or Wellington Offices. Joining our Innovation and Digital team, you'll help design, build, and support modern cloud-based data solutions that underpin reporting, analytics, operational processes, and strategic decision-making across MAS.

Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining data pipelines, integrations, and transformation processes
• Supporting reporting, analytics, and operational data requirements
• Working with business stakeholders to understand and deliver data solutions
• Contributing to data quality, governance, security, and privacy outcomes
• Monitoring and improving the reliability and performance of data services
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives across our data environment
• For senior candidates, leading complex solution design, providing technical guidance, and helping lift engineering standards across the team

Qualifications

Data Engineer: You may be early in your data engineering career but already have experience building and supporting modern data solutions.

Senior Data Engineer: You're an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges and helping others succeed.

Required Skills

• Data Engineer: Around 3\+ years' experience in data engineering, strong SQL skills, experience developing or supporting data pipelines, exposure to cloud-based data platforms and tools, knowledge of Python and data engineering concepts, a collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving ability.
• Senior Data Engineer: 7\+ years' experience designing and delivering data solutions, advanced SQL and data platform expertise, strong experience with modern cloud technologies, experience with Python, Spark, or equivalent technologies, a background in solution design, technical leadership, and mentoring, strong understanding of data architecture, governance, quality, and security principles.
