# Software Engineer – Backend / Python

## About the Role

Zego is seeking a Software Engineer to strengthen its backend systems using Python and cloud-native microservices. In this role, you will take ownership of complex technical problems, develop clean and scalable software, and contribute to architectural decisions that improve system reliability and performance.

This is a remote opportunity with quarterly visits to Zego's London office. You will collaborate with teams across Portugal and the UK while helping build scalable, observable systems within a fast-growing insurtech environment.

## Key Responsibilities

* Develop and maintain backend systems using Python.

* Build and improve cloud-native microservices.

* Own and solve complex technical problems across backend systems.

* Write clean, scalable, maintainable code.

* Contribute to architectural and technical design decisions.

* Develop systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, observability, and performance.

* Collaborate with engineering teams across Portugal and the UK.

* Contribute to the ongoing improvement of backend architecture and engineering practices.

## Required Qualifications

* Professional software engineering experience with Python.
