Grades K - 5 Special Education Teacher - Albany, NY

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1\+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A reputable school in Albany, NY, is seeking experienced Special Education Teachers for grades K-5 to support children on the autism spectrum in a self-contained classroom setting. These contract positions offer approximately 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid break. The current assignment runs ASAP through June 19th, with potential renewal for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized instruction to students aged 5-8 with autism spectrum disorders in a self-contained classroom
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and caregivers to support student progress
• Manage classroom behavior and create a supportive learning environment
• Maintain accurate records and communicate student progress regularly

Qualifications

• NY State license in Special Education (Students with Disabilities) or actively pursuing licensure
• Recent graduates with a Master’s degree or educators with out-of-state licenses transitioning to NY are encouraged to apply
• Bachelor’s degree candidates will be considered, although Master’s level is preferred
• Proven experience in writing and managing IEPs
• Strong commitment to student-centered instruction and teamwork
