Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the People Operations Manager acts as a strategic partner, aligning business objectives with HR programs. The People Operations Manager also acts as the focal point for employees and inquiries related to benefits, payroll, employee relations, recruiting, staffing, compensation and training \& development while supporting the employees and the operation's management team.
Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced People Operations Manager to lead the HR function for a high-end furniture manufacturer. This role will focus on creating positive employee experience by driving key initiatives in talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, compliance, and organizational development. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, a passion for people, and a strong understanding of HR best practices in a manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the People Operations function, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding.
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the company’s business goals, culture, and values.
- Manage the recruitment process, from job posting to offer acceptance, ensuring positive candidate experience and successful hiring outcomes.
- Oversee and improve the onboarding process to ensure new hires integrate smoothly into the company culture and are set up for success.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives, including recognition programs, surveys, and feedback mechanisms.
- Lead performance management cycles, including goal setting, feedback, and employee development plans.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, and maintain accurate HR records and reports.
- Partner with leadership to provide guidance on organizational structure, workforce planning, and employee relations issues.
- Design and implement learning and development programs to support employee growth and retention.
- Foster a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Manage employee benefits programs, ensuring competitive offerings and a seamless employee experience.
- Act as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing support and guidance on HR-related matters.
Knowledge, Skills \& Experience
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and regulations.
- Proven experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret HR data and provide actionable insights.
- Experience in designing and implementing HR programs, processes, and policies in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Proficiency with HR software and tools, including applicant tracking systems (ATS) and human resource information systems (HRIS).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading cross-functional initiatives.
- A high degree of emotional intelligence, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive information.
Minumum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5\+ years of progressive experience in HR, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or similar industry is highly desirable.
- Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR are preferred.
- Availability to travel occasionally to different company locations or for industry events.
