About The Role

We are seeking a talented Motion Designer to join our dynamic Brand \& Design team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping how Basis visually communicates through animation, video, and product UI. Acting as the dedicated motion resource, you will collaborate closely with lead brand designers and cross-functional teams to translate complex ideas into compelling visual stories that enhance our brand identity across multiple formats and surfaces. Your work will involve creating engaging product demos, instructional videos, campaign assets, website animations, and social media content that simplify SaaS workflows and resonate with diverse audiences. You will also be responsible for designing UI and product animations, including micro-interactions and transitions, ensuring consistency with our motion standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to bring your creative expertise to a fast-paced environment, contributing to the development of innovative motion language that elevates the Basis brand.

Qualifications

• 5\+ years of experience in motion design, animation, or video production, preferably within the tech or SaaS industry
• Strong online portfolio showcasing motion work across various formats
• Expertise in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Deep understanding of motion principles, pacing, and visual storytelling
• Experience creating Lottie animations optimized for web performance
• Familiarity with front-end web technologies and integrating motion into live environments
• Ability to translate complex SaaS products into clear, engaging motion content
• Experience documenting workflows and training team members on tools and best practices
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• Comfortable working independently, managing multiple projects, and meeting deadlines
• Willingness to work on-site for selected projects, with some travel (\~5%) for events

Responsibilities

• Translate concepts, storyboards, and visual directions into polished motion graphics and videos
• Create long-form product videos, animated campaign assets, website animations, and social media content
• Design UI and product animations, including micro-interactions, transitions, and storytelling moments
• Develop and uphold Basis' motion standards to ensure consistency across deliverables
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, product, and growth to align creative output with strategic goals
• Produce product demos, instructional videos, and social cuts that clarify complex SaaS workflows
• Contribute to the development of innovative motion language and experiment with emerging trends and tools
• Participate in storyboarding and visual explorations, providing motion perspective early in the creative process
• Communicate project progress, manage timelines, and prioritize tasks effectively
• Stay updated on motion design trends, AI-first tools, and best practices in the industry
