Job Description

Regional Buyer Americas (Logistic Purchasing) positions offered by Volvo Group North America, LLC (Greensboro, North Carolina). Responsible for general tenders for all logistics modes within the region, including: RFIs (“Request for Information”) and RFQs (“Request for Quotation”) analysis and evaluation, suppliers’ meetings and negotiations, contracts issues, as well the supplier relationship management within the given scope. Perform ad hoc quotation for logistics services needs within the region. Accountable for regional purchasing of logistics services for assigned commodities and geographical area. Represent logistics purchasing in regional site meetings and the region in the global logistics purchasing network. Act as the first purchasing point of contact with partners and colleagues. Work with global systems and processes in the region. Drive purchasing and logistics solutions efficiency in the region. Drive continuous improvements in contracts management during their validity. Deliver objectives for the region. Facilitate the commercial relationship with specified suppliers. Promote and monitor the application of required ethics and standards of integrity. Support regional business intelligence, continuously assessing and sharing knowledge about market dynamics and trends within the logistics area of scope. Ensure the fulfillment of KPI’s within the assigned scope. Identify and design innovative logistics solutions and contractual prospective in the region. Develop and implement global commodity sourcing strategy in the region in coordination with the commodity teams. Support and participate in commodity sourcing projects by providing regional requirements, insights and market intelligence. Handle the relationship with the global supplier representatives in the regions for assigned commodities. Assess and secure sustainability improvements during sourcing projects and contract reviews. Make data correlations utilizing analytical tools to propose fact-based plans, solutions, process changes and new ways of working. Collect, analyze, and present data to aid business decisions. Perform supplier evaluations and manage ambiguity.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Logistics Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of experience working in transportation and logistics in the North American market.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:

+ Working in supply chain in the transport and commercial vehicles industries;

+ Delivering optimized logistics solutions through partnerships with logistics service providers;

+ Performing operational or commercial relationship management with transport and logistics service providers;

+ Working with freight cost drivers, market dynamics analysis, and scenario development; and

+ Leading purchasing negotiations, running sourcing projects, and bidding to the market (RFQs and RFIs) in all modes of transport and logistics services.

  • Must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

+ Working with continuous improvement, utilizing formal problem-solving methodologies and lean tools, and securing root cause identification and countermeasures implementation; and

+ Working with Power BI by developing dashboards and reports that can secure actionable outcomes and improved business performance over time.

  • Up to 15% domestic and international travel required.
  • Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
  • We are offering a salary range of $109,516 to $121,199 per year.
