Architect – Data Center Design

Job Purpose

The Architect – Data Center Design will be responsible for developing architectural designs and drawings for Data Center facilities, ensuring alignment with hyperscaler, enterprise, and colocation customer requirements. The role involves preparing conceptual layouts, detailed design drawings, and regulatory documentation while ensuring compliance with local development regulations and data center design standards.

The candidate will work closely with MEP engineers, structural teams, and project stakeholders to deliver highly functional, scalable, and secure data center environments.

Roles \& Responsibilities

Data Center Architectural Design

• Develop architectural designs for Data Center facilities, including:
• Data halls
• MEP service areas
• Electrical and mechanical equipment rooms
• Control rooms
• Office and support spaces
• Plan layouts based on hyperscaler, enterprise, and colocation customer requirements.
• Ensure designs support operational efficiency, security, and scalability of data center facilities.

Architectural Planning \& Layout Development

• Prepare conceptual(test fits), schematic, and detailed architectural designs.
• Develop:
• Floor plans
• Sections
• Elevations
• Architectural layouts
• Support space planning and functional zoning for data center infrastructure.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure designs comply with local development regulations and building codes.
• Coordinate submissions and approvals with local authorities and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure compliance with Development Control \& Promotion Regulations (DCPR) and local building requirements.

Customer Requirement Integration

• Interpret and incorporate hyperscaler, enterprise, and other customer design standards.
• Coordinate with clients to understand:
• Rack density requirements
• Expansion capabilities
• Operational workflows
• Adapt architectural layouts to meet specific customer design guidelines.

Drawing Development

• Prepare and develop architectural drawings using AutoCAD.
• Produce:
• General arrangement drawings
• Detailed architectural plans
• Construction documentation
• Maintain drawing accuracy, revisions, and documentation standards.

Multidisciplinary Coordination

• Coordinate with:
• Mechanical (HVAC) engineers
• Electrical engineers
• Plumbing / PHE engineers
• Structural engineers
• Participate in design coordination meetings with consultants, PMC, site execution.
• Support clash detection and BIM coordination where applicable.

Documentation \& Deliverables

Prepare and maintain project documentation including:

• Architectural design reports
• Construction drawings
• Design specifications
• Authority submission drawings
• Tender documentation

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (B.Arch)

Software Skills

• AutoCAD (Mandatory)
• Revit / BIM tools (Preferred)
• Microsoft Office Suite

Relevant Experience

• 7–8 years of professional experience in architectural design.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Data Center design projects.
• Data Center architectural design
• Space planning and layout optimization
• Understanding of hyperscaler and enterprise design requirements
• Knowledge of local building regulations and DCPR requirements
• Architectural drawing development
• Experience working on hyperscale or enterprise Data Center projects
• Exposure to BIM-based architectural design
• Experience coordinating with MEP and infrastructure design teams
