Job Description
We're seeking an HR Manager to work for our client, a global chemical business.
Position Overview
The HR Manager serves as a strategic and operational HR leader supporting a technically skilled and safety‑critical workforce within the chemical and/or oil \& gas sector. This role is responsible for driving talent and workforce planning, enhancing organizational culture and performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing compensation, benefits, and day‑to‑day HR operations.
The HR Manager partners closely with functional leaders to align HR programs with business goals while fostering an environment of safety, integrity, and high performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1\. Talent \& Workforce Planning
- Partner with senior leadership to develop short‑ and long‑term workforce plans aligned with production needs, regulatory requirements, and business growth strategies.
- Lead full‑cycle recruitment for technical, commercial, and operational roles, ensuring the attraction of talent suited for high‑risk industrial environments.
- Analyze labor market trends, skills shortages, and workforce risks to inform hiring and retention strategies.
- Oversee a structured onboarding program that ensures compliance, safety orientation, and cultural integration.
2\. Performance \& Culture Development
- Implement and manage performance management frameworks that emphasize accountability, safety, continuous improvement, and commercial results.
- Coach leaders on goal setting, feedback delivery, team development, and performance interventions.
- Support organizational development initiatives focused on cultural transformation, leadership capability, and employee engagement.
- Promote a culture anchored in operational excellence, safety, inclusion, and ethical conduct, consistent with industry expectations.
3\. HR Operations \& Compliance
- Oversee daily HR operations including payroll coordination, benefits administration, employee records management, and HR system upkeep.
- Maintain accurate and audit‑ready HR documentation, employment contracts, policies, procedures, and handbooks.
- Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and investigations with professionalism and fairness.
4\. Compensation \& Benefits
- Conduct market benchmarking to ensure competitive pay structures aligned with chemical/O\&G industry norms.
- Manage annual compensation cycles, including salary reviews, incentive programs, and bonus processes.
- Oversee administration of benefits programs, including health, retirement, wellness initiatives, and site‑specific allowances (e.g., hazard pay, shift differentials).
- Collaborate with global or corporate HR teams to ensure local compensation practices align with broader company frameworks.
5\. Policies, Governance \& HR Systems
- Develop, update, and enforce HR policies aligned with legal requirements and global corporate standards.
- Provide HR metrics, dashboards, and insights to leadership to support strategic decision‑making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10\+ years of progressive HR experience in an O\&G and chemical environment.
- Excellent judgment, stakeholder management, and interpersonal communication skills.
