$44,770\. – $50,550\.80 annually (DOE)

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking a passionate and student-centered

Kindergarten Teacher

to provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction while creating a strong academic and social foundation for our youngest scholars. The ideal candidate will foster curiosity, independence, and a love of learning while helping students develop foundational literacy, mathematics, social-emotional, and classroom readiness skills.

AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and consistent data-driven decision-making.

This role requires a teacher who is committed to supporting students in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction \& Student Achievement

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction aligned with Arizona Academic Standards and AMS curriculum frameworks.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate instruction in early literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of all learners.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessment data to drive instructional planning and targeted interventions.
  • Foster curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and progress monitoring documentation.

Classroom Culture \& Student Support

  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and positive behavior.
  • Support students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental growth.
  • Teach and reinforce classroom routines, expectations, independence, and positive peer interactions.
  • Build strong relationships that encourage student confidence, responsibility, and success.

Collaboration \& Professional Growth

  • Participate in weekly professional development, coaching cycles, and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, interventionists, and school leadership.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on continuous improvement and student achievement.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective instructional practice.

Family Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and academic goals.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain positive partnerships with families.
  • Support family engagement through school events, conferences, and ongoing communication.
  • Provide families with strategies and resources to support learning and development at home.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Valid teaching certification in Elementary Education or a related subject area; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; OR
  • Minimum of three (3) years of K–8 teaching experience.

Additionally, Candidates Must

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and instructional planning skills.
  • Show commitment to serving Title I schools and multilingual learner communities.
  • Utilize data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, collaboration, flexibility, and initiative.
  • Pass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
