About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced aviation training leader to join Airways International Ltd as ATS Training Manager.
Reporting to the Head of ATS Training, this role is responsible for leading the delivery, quality, and continuous improvement of ATS training across Airways and for international customers. You will provide strategic oversight of training delivery, training standards, curriculum development, and instructor capability, ensuring training outcomes align with ICAO, CAA, Airways, and NZQA requirements.
Leading a team of ATC Instructors and ATS Training Specialists, you will foster a high-performing culture focused on consistent, effective, and efficient training outcomes. The role also plays a key part in supporting workforce readiness, strengthening operational capability, and driving innovation across ATS training delivery.
This position works closely with operational units, workforce planning, instructors, and key stakeholders across Airways and AIL to support trainee success, training quality, and long-term capability development within the ATS profession.
About You
You will bring extensive experience as an ATS Instructor, along with strong operational knowledge of air traffic control procedures, safety standards, and training methodologies within high-stakes operational environments.
You are a collaborative and credible leader who is passionate about developing others and driving high-quality training outcomes. You will have experience leading teams, coaching instructors, and building strong relationships across operational and training environments.
To be successful in this role, you will also demonstrate :
- Strong knowledge of competency-based training and adult learning principles
- The ability to use data, trends, and evaluation outcomes to improve training effectiveness
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse learner groups and stakeholders
- A continuous improvement mindset, including interest in innovation, simulation-based learning, and modern training practices
- A strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and Airways values
Experience working with ICAO, CAA, NZQA, or other regulatory frameworks would be highly desired.
