Job Description
Job Title: Lab Technician I (Entry level)
Location: Jackson, MI (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)
Duration: Until Jun 2027 (with a possibility of extension
Shift: Regular shift is 7:15 AM – 4:00 PM.
Candidates must be flexible to work second shift, extended hours (8–12\+ hours), overtime, and occasional overnight travel as needed.
Overview:
We are seeking an entry-level Lab Technician I to support laboratory testing and technical operations in a scientific environment. This role is ideal for candidates with a scientific or technical background who are eager to develop their
chemistry
and laboratory skills. The successful candidate will assist with testing activities, data collection, calculations, documentation, and adherence to safety procedures while receiving training and mentorship to grow within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory testing, sample preparation, and data collection activities.
- Support chemistry-related testing and analysis following established procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, test reports, and laboratory documentation.
- Perform mathematical calculations and interpret technical data.
- Assist with radiation safety testing and compliance activities as required.
- Calculate work boundaries and support safe laboratory and testing operations.
- Operate laboratory equipment and ensure proper maintenance and calibration.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Support field assignments and occasional overnight travel when required.
- Work collaboratively with laboratory personnel and technical teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in a scientific or technical field OR
- Minimum 48 semester credit hours of scientific or technical coursework from an accredited college, technical institute, trade school, licensed apprenticeship, or military program.
- Strong mathematical aptitude with the ability to perform technical calculations.
- Basic understanding of scientific principles and laboratory practices.
- Ability to learn technical procedures and work in a regulated environment.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework or experience in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Technology, Environmental Science, or related scientific disciplines.
- Previous experience in a laboratory, technical, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with technical documentation and data analysis.
- Calculus or advanced math coursework is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work 50\+ hours per week, including overtime.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts and occasional weekends.
- Ability to travel overnight when required (all approved travel expenses reimbursed).
- Ability to meet radiation safety and other regulatory training requirements.
