Mechanical Engineer
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a growing manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong troubleshooting abilities, experience with automated manufacturing equipment, and a background in tooling, process improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have experience within flexible packaging, converting, film, pouch forming/sealing, or injection molding environments and possess excellent technical and project management skills.
Qualifications Required
5–8 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Packaging, or Plastics Engineering
Strong knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes
Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or CAD software
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Hands-on experience with automated manufacturing equipment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with pouch forming and sealing machines
Experience with converting equipment and/or injection molding
Converting or film manufacturing knowledge
Knowledge of GMP standards for food or medical packaging
Familiarity with BRC, ISO, and/or SQF standards
Experience in film lamination and flexible packaging
Lean Manufacturing experience
Experience using MS Project or similar project management software
Essential Duties \& Responsibilities
Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes through research, testing, and process development
Design, modify, and test manufacturing methods, tooling, and equipment
Analyze workflow, space requirements, and equipment layouts to improve efficiency
Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment-related issues
Work hands-on with production equipment and train team members on proper repair methods
Partner with Quality teams on corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
Lead cost reduction and process optimization projects
Establish product and process testing methods and quality standards
Calculate production, labor, and material costs to support manufacturing decisions
Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing manufacturing data and trends
Maintain product safety, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to maintain equipment uptime
Train and mentor technicians on design and development projects
Develop work instructions and reference materials
Follow all GMPs, company policies, and safety procedures
Report any food safety, quality, or food defense concerns to management
