Job Purpose
The Accountant is responsible for executing and monitoring accounting and financial activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and records, maintaining compliance with approved policies and procedures, supporting the preparation of financial reports and year-end accounts, and contributing to enhancing the efficiency of financial systems and operations.
Key Responsibilities
1\. Execute and monitor all accounting and financial activities.
2\. Prepare and develop the Chart of Accounts in alignment with the nature of business activities and financial and accounting requirements.
3\. Prepare the Trial Balance and verify the accuracy of account balances and financial records.
4\. Prepare, execute, and monitor all accounting transaction procedures in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
5\. Record, review, and archive journal entries, ensuring the completeness of all supporting documentation.
6\. Monitor and settle financial advances and employee imprests in accordance with the approved Financial Advances Policy.
7\. Record company assets, oversee physical inventory counts, and regularly update asset records.
8\. Prepare payroll-related financial and accounting statements, documents, and supporting records.
9\. Assume full responsibility for organizing, maintaining, and archiving accounting books, files, and documents, ensuring ease of retrieval.
10\. Contribute to reviewing contracts concluded with external parties from a financial and accounting perspective.
11\. Issue receipts and invoices in accordance with approved mechanisms and procedures.
12\. Receive and follow up on incoming checks in accordance with approved receipt vouchers and applicable financial procedures.
13\. Verify the accuracy of financial procedures and transactions and ensure their compliance with approved policies, plans, and controls.
14\. Execute and monitor disbursement transactions, ensuring they are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and cash flow plans authorized by the appropriate authority.
15\. Prepare year-end accounts within the specified timelines and follow up on their audit, review, and approval processes.
16\. Prepare periodic accounting and financial reports and present them to management to support monitoring and decision-making.
17\. Contribute to developing and improving financial and accounting policies, procedures, and systems to enhance the efficiency of related operations.
18\. Perform any other duties assigned within the scope of the job title.
Qualifications \& Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in accounting and financial operations.
- Good knowledge of accounting standards and relevant financial regulations.
- Experience in preparing journal entries, trial balances, year-end accounts, and accounting reports.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
