Our client is seeking an experienced Associate Director to join their AI and Data practice, with a focus on Evaluation, Measurement \& Verification (EM\&V) for utility energy efficiency and demand-side management programs. This leadership role combines advanced analytics, AI-driven insights, and client engagement to deliver high-impact solutions across energy programs.

Role Overview

The Associate Director will lead complex evaluation initiatives across a portfolio of energy programs while driving business growth and strengthening client relationships. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong leadership to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions in areas such as demand response, energy efficiency, electrification, and decarbonization.

Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership \& Engagement

  • Lead end-to-end client engagements, from strategy and program design to evaluation execution and delivery of insights
  • Develop and implement advanced EM\&V methodologies aligned with industry best practices
  • Translate technical findings into actionable recommendations and support regulatory reporting
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and overall delivery quality
  • Build strong client relationships and expand engagements into long-term strategic partnerships
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to proposal development and growth initiatives

Solution Development \& Innovation

  • Design and deliver AI- and analytics-driven solutions to evaluate and optimize utility programs
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments to enhance service offerings

Team \& Practice Leadership

  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams including data scientists, engineers, and consultants
  • Drive business development efforts, including pipeline generation and strategic pursuits
  • Support talent development, recruitment, and thought leadership initiatives within the practice

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the energy sector, with a strong track record in project delivery and business development
  • At least 5 years of experience leading demand-side management (DSM) or EM\&V program evaluations
  • Deep expertise in evaluating programs related to demand response, energy efficiency, EVs, renewable energy, energy storage, and decarbonization
  • Proven ability to convert complex technical data into clear business insights and value propositions
  • Proficiency in programming and analytics tools such as R (Tidyverse), Python, SQL, and version control platforms (e.g., GitHub)
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Dash, or R Shiny
  • Familiarity with AI tools and platforms (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated success across the business development lifecycle, including opportunity identification and proposal creation
  • Ability to lead large-scale engagements while fostering team collaboration and performance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI/ML technologies and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • AI/LLM-related certifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
