Job Description
Location: Jacksonville, TX (Hybrid/Remote Oversight)
Practice Type: Nurse Practitioner-Led Outpatient Clinic
Employment Type: Contract / Part-Time (Collaboration)
Job Summary
We are seeking a board-certified Physician (MD/DO) to provide collaborative oversight and prescriptive authority for an established/independent Nurse Practitioner-led practice in Jacksonville, Texas. This is a non-clinical, administrative-heavy role focused on regulatory compliance, clinical consultation, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate is a licensed Texas physician who values the NP-Physician collaborative model and is interested in supporting rural healthcare access in East Texas.
Key Responsibilities (Texas TMB/BNE Compliance)
- Prescriptive Authority Agreement (PAA): Establish and maintain a written Prescriptive Authority Agreement in accordance with Texas Medical Board (TMB) Chapter 193\.
- Chart Review: Conduct periodic retrospective review of clinical records (typically 10% or as agreed upon in the PAA) to ensure adherence to standard of care and clinical protocols.
- Clinical Consultation: Be available via telecommunication (phone, email, or secure text) during clinic hours to provide expert consultation on complex cases or high-acuity patient presentations.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in monthly or quarterly meetings (which may be conducted via teleconference) to discuss patient care, clinical outcomes, and clinic protocols.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the practice remains compliant with Texas state laws regarding Nurse Practitioner autonomy and physician supervision.
Qualifications \& Requirements
- Licensure: Unrestricted License to practice medicine in the State of Texas (MD or DO).
- Board Certification: Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or [Alternative Specialty, e.g., Psychiatry if applicable].
- Credentials: Active DEA and Texas DPS registrations.
- Experience: Previous experience as a collaborating or supervising physician for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) is preferred but not required.
- Proximity: While daily on-site presence is not required, the physician must be reachable and meet TMB requirements for periodic on-site visits if necessary (relevant for clinics within certain mileage radii or specific rural health designations).
Schedule \& Compensation
- Hours: Flexible/Remote. No direct patient care required.
- Compensation: Competitive monthly stipend (Contract/1099).
- Malpractice: Clinic typically covers the administrative/collaboration portion of malpractice insurance (to be negotiated).
About the Practice
Center Care Clinic is a community-focused clinic in Jacksonville, TX, dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible care to the residents of Cherokee County. We specialize in Primary Care / Mental Health and pride ourselves on a supportive, patient-centered environment.
Recruiter Tips for Texas Collaboration:
- TMB Limits: Remember that in Texas, a physician can generally delegate prescriptive authority to a maximum of 7 full-time equivalent (FTE) NPs/PAs (unless in a medically underserved area).
- Distance: Texas law no longer requires the physician to be within a specific mileage of the NP, provided they are available by telecommunication and can perform required periodic face-to-face meetings.
- Jacksonville Specifics: Highlight the "Rural/Medically Underserved" aspect if applicable, as this can sometimes offer the physician certain liability protections or allow for broader oversight ratios.
