After School Counselor

Private school located in Downtown Jersey City is looking to hire a lunch aide / after school counselor for the 2026 - 2027 school year. Candidate MUST be available to work Monday through Friday, 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

Must have experience working with children, CPR/First Aid Certified a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Preparing classrooms for afternoon activities and cleaning classrooms each day and as necessary
• Cleaning and maintaining instructional supplies, materials and resources
• Maintaining discipline and managing student behavior in accordance with the rules and disciplinary policy of the School
• Supporting and encouraging students
• Use a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities etc) to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities
• Maintain an open line of communication with parents and provide appropriate information
• Monitor children’s interactions and nurture cooperation and sharing
• Cooperate with administration staff
• Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulations
• Covering lunch breaks for classroom teachers, which includes monitoring the class as they eat, assisting with distributing and heating up lunches, wiping down eating surfaces with disinfectant wipes, cleaning the classroom after students have finished eating (including wiping down surfaces and sweeping the floors), providing activity options for early finishers
• Assisting classroom teachers during the day, according to your schedule

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16\.00 - $17\.00 per hour
