Position Summary
The Director of Product Management – Advanced Materials and Solutions (AMS) is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing the global product and portfolio strategy across Piezo, Sensors, Switches \& Controls, and Passives. This leader translates overall business strategy into clear market priorities, product roadmaps, and commercial actions that drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and long-term competitive advantage.
Reporting directly to the AMS business leader and serving on the AMS Leadership Team, this role acts as the voice of the customer and market—grounding product decisions in application insights, competitive dynamics, and financial performance. The position requires a general management mindset, balancing strategy, execution, pricing, customer engagement, and P\&L ownership, while also elevating product management capabilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio and Product Strategy
- Own and lead the global portfolio strategy aligned to AMS growth and financial goals
- Define where-to-play and how-to-win across segments, regions, and applications
- Drive portfolio decisions including investments, rationalization, M\&A, and partnerships based on ROI and market attractiveness
Market and Competitive Leadership
- Develop deep insights into customer needs, applications, and industry trends
- Lead voice-of-customer, segmentation, and competitive intelligence efforts
- Ensure differentiated value propositions and sustainable competitive positioning
Product Lifecycle and Innovation
- Oversee full product lifecycle from concept through launch, scale, and end-of-life
- Prioritize R\&D investments toward the highest-value opportunities
- Improve time-to-market and focus through roadmap clarity and portfolio simplification
Commercial Execution and Pricing
- Partner with Sales and Marketing on positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategy
- Equip sales teams with tools, training, and messaging to drive pipeline and win rates
- Engage directly with key customers as a senior product authority
Financial Ownership and Planning
- Own portfolio performance across revenue, margin, and product mix
- Lead annual and long-range planning with Finance and Operations
- Drive margin improvement and cost/productivity initiatives
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Align Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to execute strategy
- Establish governance, prioritization frameworks, and decision-making cadence
- Provide strategic input as a core member of the AMS leadership team
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and scale a global product management team
- Strengthen product management discipline, tools, and operating rigor
- Foster a high-performance culture aligned with company values
Qualifications
Core Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
- 10–15\+ years in product management, engineering, or commercial leadership
- 5\+ years leading teams or global cross-functional initiatives
- Experience owning or influencing P\&L performance
- Track record managing complex, multi-product portfolios in industrial or electronics markets
- Strong expertise in pricing, portfolio strategy, and lifecycle management
- Experience working in global, matrixed organizations
- Familiarity with stage-gate / NPD processes
Preferred
- MBA or advanced degree
- Experience in regulated or high-reliability markets (automotive, medical, aerospace)
- Background in platform or modular product strategies
- M\&A, portfolio transformation, or integration experience
- Experience with PLM, CRM, or analytics tools
Compensation
- Base salary: $190K–$220K
- Eligible for variable bonus compensation
