Office Doctor

within our international medical operations.

Role Purpose

The

Office Doctor

is a licensed physician working in a structured medical advisory and triage capacity. The role supports safe, efficient, and high‑quality medical assistance services by focusing on early medical assessment, clinical triage, medical guidance, and quality assurance.

The Office Doctor works closely with Contact Doctors, Medical Assistance Coordinators (MACs/Registered Nurses), ICU Advisors, and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Triage \& Advisory

  • Perform structured medical triage of incoming medical inquiries.
  • Assess symptoms, severity, urgency, and recommended level of care.
  • Provide medical advice in line with established standard operating procedures.
  • Support Assistance Coordinators and Medical Assistance Coordinators with medical interpretation and case‑related questions.
  • Assist Supervisors with case triage.
  • Take medical responsibility for own cases when required.

Communication \& Coordination

  • Communicate directly with patients, relatives, clinics, and hospitals when medically relevant.
  • Clarify and translate medical information to support case progression.
  • Provide guidance on navigating the Spanish healthcare system.

Escalation \& Clinical Governance

  • Identify and escalate complex, unclear, or high‑risk cases to Contact Doctors or ICU Advisors.
  • Contribute to patient safety through early identification of clinical risk.
  • Support documentation review, medical audits, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Medical Quality \& Operational Development

  • Contribute to development of standard operating procedures, updates, and clinical governance activities.
  • Assist in the training and onboarding of medical and operational staff.
  • Support continuous improvement of medical assistance workflows.

Clinical Responsibility Framework

The Office Doctor both works in an advisory capacity and takes on own medical cases when needed. The Office Doctor:

  • Operates within the established Viking Travel Care medical governance structure.
  • Depending on employment type, works under own medical-legal responsibility, or the responsibility of Medical Director or a Contact Doctor assigned to a case.

Qualifications

  • Licensed physician with a valid EU medical license.
  • Clinical experience in general practice, emergency medicine, internal medicine, or similar.
  • Strong clinical assessment and triage skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
  • Fluency in Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, or Danish is an advantage
  • Spanish language skills are an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Experience in assistance medicine, telemedicine, or insurance medicine is beneficial but not required.
  • Clean criminal record.
