to support a Federal Program – On Site - in Chantilly, VA.

An active Top-Secret / SCI Clearance is required, will sponsor for CI Polygraph within first year.

Backend Java Engineer (Security\+ Required) – TS/SCI CI Poly – Chantilly, VA

Overview

We are seeking

CompTIA Security\+ certified Backend Java Engineers

to join a highly skilled, mission-driven team supporting a

Next-Generation Space Resiliency and Flight Safety program

. This program operates a fully deployed, complex software platform while continuously evolving with new capabilities.

In this role, you will contribute to both

Operations \& Maintenance (O\&M)

and

new feature development

, supporting a system critical to national space operations.

What You’ll Do

• Develop, enhance, and maintain backend services for a mission-critical platform
• Build scalable

RESTful APIs

using modern Java frameworks

• Participate in

Agile development

(Scrum, SAFe, PI Planning)

• Manage tasks through JIRA including:
• Feature development
• Bug fixes
• Code reviews
• System enhancements
• Support

production operations

through scheduled on-call rotation (approximately 1 week/month)

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions

Technical Environment

You will work in a modern, cloud-native ecosystem including:

• Languages \& Frameworks:

Java, Spring Boot

• Libraries/Tools:

Mockito, Lombok, OpenAPI (Swagger)

• Build \& Versioning:

Gradle, Git

• Data \& Messaging:

Kafka, MongoDB, ActiveMQ, NiFi

• Containers \& Orchestration:

Docker, Containerd, Kubernetes, Helm

• Cloud:

AWS

Required Qualifications

• CompTIA Security\+ Certification (required)
• Active

TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph

• 5\+ years (Mid-level) or 10\+ years (Senior-level) of experience in:
• Software engineering
• Software development
• Systems engineering (IT systems)
• Strong experience developing

Java-based backend services

• Hands-on experience with:
• Spring Boot ecosystem
• REST API development
• Git and Gradle
• Experience working in

Agile environments

(Scrum, SAFe, or Kanban)

• Experience with containerized applications (Docker / Containerd)
• Experience with Kubernetes and Helm
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS cloud experience
• Experience with distributed systems and message-driven architectures
• Background in space or intelligence domains, such as:
• Space / satellite systems
• Orbital mechanics or astrodynamics
• Flight safety or conjunction analysis
• GEOINT / SIGINT

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree

in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field

Levels

• Mid-Level:

5\+ years of relevant experience

• Senior-Level:

10\+ years of relevant experience
