New Mexico State Police (NMSP) serves our state as the premier law enforcement agency. Our mission begins with establishing partnerships and relationships within our communities that mitigate and prevent crime. The NMSP Communications Bureau provides 911 dispatching services to NMSP and various partnering agencies throughout the state. It provides emergency and non-emergency service response to the citizens and visitors of New Mexico. We have three Communications Centers across the state where dispatchers receive, evaluate, and transmit information via telephone and multi-channel radio that frequently involves emergency and critical situations affecting human welfare and safety. The Communications Bureau is a team of 82 that includes emergency dispatchers, training and quality assurance specialists and management.

This position exists to assist the Communications Bureau in all of its purchasing and budgetary management needs.
How does it get done?
- Oversees financial transactions, procurement methods and contract management
- Proficient in billing, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting and auditing
- Responsible for purchasing supplies and equipment
- Attention to detail and the ability to review purchase orders, invoices and accounting documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Savvy in financial systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Knowledge with the New Mexico State Procurement Code and account and reporting system (SHARE Financials)
- Completes travel requests and reimbursements following State of New Mexico policies and procedures
- Maintains excellent vendor relations and communication/customer service skills (listening, verbal and written)
- Skilled in working independently with minimal supervision and assist on special projects as needed
- Can read, write, speak and understand English fluently

Minimum Qualification
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and fingerprinting in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations; and is conditional pending results. Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony free, per Section 5\.12\.1\.1 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy.
In addition, the selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico; or pass and receive the Defensive Driving Certificate within six (6) months of date of hire.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, reaching and lifting may be required.
